Spring start-up time depends on the Kansas weather. A good time to schedule for city water is around April 15th. Wells can be done earlier, around March 15th.
Backflow preventers must be tested yearly when your sprinkler is turned on. This is to protect our drinking water from getting pesticides and other contaminates in it. The city of Wichita and all the surrounding areas all require this be tested and then files with the city. Those on wells do not need this done.
The SPRING START-UP for those on backflow preventers is to turn on the water, test the backflow as required by the city. The sprinkler system is checked for proper coverage, leaks and non-working parts. The timer is also programmed.
Those on a well have the same process with the exception of the backflow test.
